Making Money Without

Eric Bischoff Backstage with Dixie's Attorney

Short and sweet to have Eric basically explain to Dixie's attorney Guy Blade without addressing it publicly why Dixie can't fire him or Hogan following them revealing to be the "they" due to he and Hogan control the majority share of TNA.

Hulk Hogan & Eric Bischoff in-ring promo

Hogan came out miming the guitar on his crutches which was funny, there were boo's around the iMPACT! Zone but big "Hogan" chants.

Eric introduced us to him mentor, his brother and the man who made this industry famous: Hulk Hogan. Finally, "Hogan sucks" chants. It's working so far.

Hogan asked where's "the no-good Dixie Carter" and said they took what is rightfully theirs. He said there was a method to their madness and that Dixie conned Hogan to come down to TNA.

Way to put over the company by basically saying he didn't want to come of his own accord.

Bischoff got on the mic and said nobody saw it coming and proceeded to walk us through the master plan.

Saying it started with Abyss, when people couldn't understand why Abyss would turn on Hogan after the Hulkster took Abyss under his ring he then introduced Abyss as a member of Team Hogan.

Abyss came out carrying his beloved Janice. Abyss told Hogan and Bischoff and said he was their soldier and he will knock down anyone who stands their way. Hogan told him it was their destiny and he would live forever as he was immortal.

Bischoff introduced Jeff Jarrett claiming to have utter respect for this man. Jarrett walked to the ring as Mike Tenay said seeing Jarrett join this group was the most disappointing part of the entire thing.

Jarrett blamed Dixie for stealing TNA from him using her Daddy's money and now that he's with Hogan, everybody has to play by their rules.

He was cut off by Ric Flair's music who came out with the other members of Fortune. Flair told Hogan that in his absence that TNA was run by Fortune and huge Fortune chants broke out in the iMPACT! Zone.

He told Hogan he hated his guts and wanted him one on one, Flair approached Hogan and as it looked like they would brawl, the two hugged and said that both joined with a common goal of taking out Dixie Carter.

Bischoff got on the mic and introduced the new TNA Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy. Hardy came out without face paint and without his dancing, complete opposite of his usual self.

He told the world that he didn't sell out, he sold in, and he blames the fans for his pain and anger after destroying his body for them and that the New Regime are immortal and will live forever.

At this point Kevin Nash & Sting were shown backstage watching the show, Hogan & Bischoff persuaded them to come to the ring and "join the party."

We go to break and when we come back Sting & Nash are out and Bischoff says they need both of them on the team.

Nash says its the perfect fit for him as his whole career had been about money and he didn't care about anybody, however as he got older he got wiser, he claims that everybody in the back who he would of taken every dollar from in the past they are now his friends and he'll pass and that if they want to run the company into the ground they can do it without him.

Sting took over and said he came here five years ago because he loves TNA and said he's not gonna let history repeat itself and that his answer was no.

Both Sting and Nash left the ring as Bischoff called them nuts and said its always going to be about money and power, and if they realize that they know where to find them.

It was a strong opening segment that probably should have ended after Hardy finished talking. The Nash and Sting part seems irrelevant, but we'll see. Tenay and Tazz called the group "Immortal."

Pope backstage with Sting & Nash

Pope gave out to Sting & Nash for walking away from money and said he's still making money and will continue to fight for this company. Dixie approached Nash & Sting and asked them to stay but both men just walked out.

Dixie with Hogan & Bischoff

Dixie wanted Hogan to tell her he screwed her and Hogan confirmed this because from Day 1 he'd be the happiest he'd ever been and that they changed the wrestling business but that didn't happen, so he took the company back.

He had her security team escort her away. We then saw a shot of JWoWW arriving at the iMPACT! Zone.

TNA Knockouts Championship

Tara © vs. Madison Raye

Madison said she had a plan to become a three-time Knockouts Champion, but because of Tara, that didn't happen...even though Tara has Madison to thank for having a job and told her to come out and give her a title shot.

Tara came out as the new TNA Knockouts Champion. Tara agreed to a title match and lay down and Madison pinned her for the title win.

Madison ran around the ring celebrating as Tara looked on. Mickie James interrupted and told Madison she was coming for the Knockouts Championship and there is no better time than right now.

Madison backed off and threw Tara to Mickie who kicked her out of the ring, Madison and Tara headed for the back. No idea why they didn't just put the belt on Madison on Sunday and have Tara lay down for her then?

Pretty bad segment when at one time the Knockouts division used to be the highest rated in TNA its now just a mirror image of the WWE Diva's.

It wasn't a shame to retire the Women's title as the stuff women are doing in all wrestling is pretty shameful right now. More wrestlers, fewer models. Hopefully, Mickie will change that.

JWoWW backstage with Beautiful People

JWoWW came into the Beautiful People while they were getting their make up done and asked where to find Cookie. They all began looking through the backstage area and found Eric Young who asked "Bow-Wow" to give him her herby handcocks on his chest?

I'm not sure if that's right, I'm from Ireland and have no idea what this JWoWW thing is about!

Young asked her was he a gorilla or he could be a chimp. He then introduced them to Orlando Jordan and said he wanted to put his lollipop in her mouth. She stood on it and they left.

Orlando shouted that Jersey Shore sucks as Young looked on in amazement. Well after that I'm not going checking Jersey Shore out. This was horrible.

Kurt Angle / Jeff Jarrett Promo

Back to the iMPACT! Zone and we saw Kurt Angle walking to the ring holding his ribs. No music or anything. Big Angle chants in the iMPACT! Zone.

Angle got on the mic and said he came here a little late as he was uninvited and before he officially makes his statement of retirement he'd like to clear a few things up.

He said for the past 6 month he busted his ass and at for Bound For Glory he dislocated his ribs, he reinjured his neck and got stitches in his eye and he just wants to know why Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff screwed him last Sunday.

He said he's a little confused as he didn't win the TNA Heavyweight Title at Bound For Glory but he wasn't pinned, either, so he's in a dilemma.

This brought out Jeff Jarrett, the founder told Kurt there's no dilemma because seen as Kurt didn't win the title he shouldn't wrestle anymore, he never heard Kurt say if he didn't get pinned or got screwed.

He can't believe that Kurt is making excuses, Jarrett called him the Olympic Gold Medalist, the former World Champion, the father, the husband, then corrected himself and said "Well, the ex-husband."

Classic line, storyline or not I'd kill him if I was Kurt. He said Kurt made his life hell when he brought him into TNA. Side note: Kurt's beard is looking pretty awesome, as a beard-wearer, I should know.

Kurt said he can have that slut and asked how did he make Jeff's life a living hell? He asked was it by putting TNA on the map and talking up TNA every chance he had or by teaching the rookies everything he knew or was it because after Kurt came in it wasn't all about Jarrett.

He then asked how many TNA title's Jeff wore before Kurt arrived claiming that Jeff held everybody down in TNA, but he couldn't hold down Kurt Angle.

Jarrett told him that it's nothing to do with that and that he sold his soul to the devil to get back his company and that after taking everything he could from Kurt and taking his career was the final nail in the coffin.

Kurt went after Jarrett and then Gunner & Murphy attacked him as he went up the ramp. Jarrett joined in on the attack as Angle was handcuffed. Jarrett threw Angle headfirst into the side of the stage, he's handcuffed he couldn't block it.

Taz came down and told Jarrett to back off. I liked it, the personal touch between Jarrett & Angle works and Jarrett is a credible wrestler again now that he's heel. This attack on Angle last week wouldn't have been the same.

Samoa Joe Talks
Joe said he doesn't make mistakes with people he trusts and Jarrett made mistakes in making Joe the guy he wanted to take out everybody in his path. Now Jarrett has to go to sleep knowing that that same person is looking for him.

I don't like Samoa Joe but that was a nice promo. Short but didn't need to be long it was well delivered and made sense. Good work out of Joe.

Abyss vs. Samoa Joe

About time for a match, we're well over an hour into iMPACT! and all we've had is three seconds of wrestling and I use that term ever so lightly. Joe came in with his game face on and took out Abyss, very early on it was clear that Joe is best put against smaller guys, he can work with smaller guys not with bigger guys who find it hard to work.

Abyss drove Joe down with a Chokeslam and went to ringside to get a steel chair as he turned around Joe hit Abyss with a suicide dive. Both men got to their feet and Abyss attacked Abyss with the bell as the referee called for the bell.

Joe was busted open hard. Abyss continued the attack with lefts and rights before throwing him into the ring and beat him down in the corner.

Rob Van Dam's music hit and he ran down to the ring, Abyss got out of the ring and grabbed Janice, RVD checked on Joe as Abyss retreated to the back.

So in over an hour we've now had about a minute of matches, the first wasn't a match and just a pin-fall the second had two moves and a disqualification. Great job, TNA, at putting on a wrestling event.

Rob Van Dam Promo

Joe left the ring and Van Dam grabbed the mic and immediately called out Jeff Hardy and said he owed everybody an explanation but they are moving past that as Jeff had his respect, confidence and support.

Jeff Hardy appeared on the video screen from backstage saying that friendship in this business is an illusion and you draw your opponents close and devour them just like he did to RVD.

He called himself the new anti-christ of professional wrestling and Van Dam wants him but then again don't they all.

At this time Bischoff's music played as he walked out and said if RVD wants a shot at Jeff Hardy for the World Title, then he has to defeat Mr. Anderson, as the winner will face Jeff Hardy for the title at Turning Point next month.

Bischoff / Tessmacher / Mr. Anderson Backstage

Bischoff told Miss Tessmacher that due to her sharing information with The Pope & Kevin Nash, he can't trust her anymore so she better put on some boots and wrestle or she's out of TNA.

Mr. Anderson then approached Bischoff and when shaking his hand began squeezing it as he told Eric that he never thought he'd meet a bigger asshole but he proved him wrong and that Eric won't win the war.

The Pope vs. Fortune (AJ Styles, Beer Money, Doug Williams & Kazarian) w/ Ric Flair & Matt Morgan

Pope & Williams start of the 5-on-1 handicap match, Pope got the upper hand until Williams tagged out for Kaz, Kaz got in and got tossed around by Pope also.

Kaz tagged in TV Champion AJ Styles and outside the ring Flair & Morgan attacked the Pope and rolled him in for Styles to make the pin only to lift Pope's shoulders up himself before the 3.

AJ tagged in Roode who went to town on Pope in the corner and tagged in Storm, Beer Money hit the double suplex and Fortune continued the trend of quick tags bringing Kaz back in and Kaz knocked Pope down for the pin but only got a 2.

He then whipped Pope into the corner and he took out the remaining members of Fortune on the apron and AJ came back in to hit the overhead kick only to miss and hit Kaz instead.

Pope rolled up Kaz and got a near fall and as referee Earl Hebner got AJ out of the ring, Beer Money ran in and attacked Pope allowing Kaz to get the pin for the 3 count.

First proper match of the night and my god so many things wrong with it. Why weren't Fortune DQ'd for the Flair/Morgan attack outside.

If they just joined Hogan and need to look strong how come all 5 of Fortune looked very average against one man who was smaller than 4 of the men in the ring? Terrible booking.

The Shore / JWoWW

I don't know too much about Jersey Shore but as far as I can gather Jersey Shore is pretty hot in the States right now so they created these characters to bounce off the TV show, am I right?

If that's the case, last time Russo did this it was when 70s Show was huge and he created Mike Awesone's That 70s Guy gimmick. So is this the same?

Robbie E & Cookie said that this is on the same time as Jersey Shore, so Jersey Shore fans will watch JWoWW on Jersey Shore instead of iMPACT! so this segment is seriously redundant.

JWoWW came out and Cookie told her to crawl back into the hole she crawled out of. JWoWW threw her to the ground and slapped her for a while. This is a wrestling show. It actually upsets me.

Rob Van Dam vs. Mr. Anderson - #1 Contender Match

Mr. Anderson pushed away the microphone on the way down the ramp, focused on the match. RVD got most of the offense in the early going hitting some of his known spots and getting a few unsuccessful pin attempts on Anderson.

Van Dam hit a nice moonsault off the apron on the outside and rolled Anderson in the ring for the 5-Star Frog Splash but Anderson knocked him down and then Van Dam threw him off only for Anderson to knock him down again, Anderson hit a superplex off the top rope and pinned only for a two.

Anderson took his turn to get some shots in, knocking RVD down with an elbow, again only for a 2 count. Anderson dragged Van Dam out of the corner the hard way but Van Dam began to fight back with some rights and lefts and then a clothesline and a completely botched superkick, the camera angle didn't help.

You'd think having taped this three nights ago, they could have used a less direct camera angle.

Van Dam went for the Rolling Thunder but Anderson picked him up for the Green Bay Plunge, but Van Dam powered out and dropped Anderson with a bodyslam followed by a split-legged moonsault and a pin attempt, but Anderson had enough to kick out.

Anderson got up and this time hit the Green Bay Plunge but Van Dam got his shoulder up before the three. Anderson missed the Kenton Bomb (does he still call it that?) from the top after RVD rolled out of the way and went to the top for the frog splash but last second Anderson got the knees up into Van Dam's mid section.

Bischoff came down the ramp and called over Brian Hebner and told Hebner to follow him out of the ring and out of the arena.

Jeff Hardy's music hit and he came out with a steel chair, laying out both men with shots to the back.

He then locked Anderson's arm in the chair and hit a Twist Of Fate on Van Dam onto the chair as Anderson rolled out of the ring in pain, the show ended with Jeff Hardy standing tall over both men.

So another false finish to end the show? Glad the finish wasn't overbooked and just featured Hardy but 4 matches, 1 wasn't even a match two ended in no contests and the only proper match had 5 men look weak in defeating one smaller guy.

That's all the wrestling TNA had for us this week!

With that said, I'm intrigued by this Immortal / New Regime angle and am looking forward to next week's iMPACT!

Overall, it's the only good thing in TNA, the rest of the show I'd gladly forget by the time I wake up tomorrow.

Among those charged was Robert Rizzo, the former city manager of Bell, whose compensation package led the way with annual salary and benefits totaling more than $1.5 million. Prosecutors accused him of illegally writing his own employment contracts and steering nearly $1.9 million in unauthorized city loans to himself and others. He was booked into Los Angeles County Jail and was being held on $3.2-million bail.

The charges follow months of nationwide outrage and renewed debate over public employee compensation since The Times reported in July that the city's leaders were among the nation's highest paid municipal officials.

Cooley described Rizzo as the "unelected and unaccountable czar" of Bell, accusing him of going to elaborate lengths to keep his salary secret. Prosecutors alleged that Rizzo gave himself huge pay raises without the City Council's approval.

"This was calculated greed and theft accomplished by deceit and secrecy," Cooley said.

Rizzo's attorney, James W. Spertus, said the charges came as no surprise and were politically motivated by Cooley, who is running for California attorney general.

"The allegations are mistaken," Spertus said. "They are factually untrue in many readily provable ways."

Cooley denied that his election effort played any part in the decision to file charges.

At a news conference, Cooley accused City Council members of failing to oversee Rizzo's actions, saying that they instead had collected more than $1.2 million in total pay since 2006 for presiding over city agency meetings that never occurred or lasted just a few minutes.

Many city residents greeted news of the charges with joy.

"Finally the crooks are going to suffer what the city suffered for many years," said Carmen Bella, a longtime Bell activist.

About two dozen Bell residents gathered outside City Hall to celebrate. One man used a bullhorn to broadcast the Queen rock song, "Another One Bites the Dust," while others laughed, cheered and applauded.

But at least one resident wondered what would happen to his embattled city.

"Who's going to call the shots?" asked Hassan Mourad, 32. "That's the most important thing right now."

There are very few people left in the money making industry online that are honest and can be trusted. Some of the big shots and gurus advertise their own products and make wild promises of making money with their stuff, and more often than not, they fail. The money making world needed a break, And The Light In The Darkness provides it.

The Light In The Darkness is the first system/book/manual that I've come across that actually tells you what it takes to make money online, and what you can achieve if you're diligent. Unlike most other programs today that claim that you can make over a billion dollars in 23.86 seconds by just shelling out the money these people are demanding, The Light In The Darkness tells it as it really is. The promise of the author is simple, and most of what I've learnt and writing about is actually from the book. This is what the author says :

If you are willing to WORK HARD in the first few months, you can easily make over $40,000 at the end of the sixth month. You will have to work and learn in the first few months. None of this will cost you anything, and we'll use the money from your earnings to take you over $40,000 a month.

This is a breath of fresh air on the internet where every other guru is selling another system that will make you a billionaire if you give him the money and click on his link! The program covers a variety of areas of working online, starting with writing for money to generate some captial for you, and going on to everything you can think of! The Light In The Darkness covers:

  1. Writing online to generate an income without spending any money. The Light In The Darkness helps you put some money in your pocket before you start with the other stuff.

  2. Building a website, and marketing affiliate programs with it. This is one of The Light In The Darkness program's strenghts – helping you advertise in a very effective manner.

  3. Advertising your programs using articles (that you're being paid for!).

  4. Adsense optimization/Adbrite or any PPC contextual ad service optimization.

  5. PPC campaigns, Adwords, other PPC engines and how to run them.

  6. Selecting affiliate programs for PPC engines. This is one of the sections of The Light In The Darkness that I thoroughly enjoyed, as it helped me understand why some of my affiliate programs were doing better than others.

  7. How to write good ads for PPC programs.

  8. How to advertise using programs such as Trafficwave, Leadsomatic and so on. The Light In The Darkness gives you the exact step by step details to help you build a very cost-effective advertising program.

  9. The top online money making systems and how to use various services to make incredible amounts of money with them (that takes you to over $40,000 a month – I learnt a whole lot from here!).

  10. How to build an opt-in list and use it effectively. You are shown how to make a page with a sign-up form on it, and how to link it to an autoresponder and how to follow-up with prospects and so on. Very detailed and helpful. The best part that I liked about this was that he even gave me some templates to use to help me get started.

My experience with The Light In The Darkness has been nothing short of delightful! I've used it more than any other program, and I've seen the incredible earnings already starting to happen. The updates keep on coming at a rate of at least 1-2 per week, which means that the author of The Light In The Darkness is keeping up with the task and is pouring out all he can into this.

All in all, if I was to recommend any single program today, I would recommend The Light In The Darkness manual. You know the best part? It each and every aspect that any other $97 course by the “gurus” like Mike Filesame, Cody Moya or any other would, but costs nothing close to them. On an average, a decent fluffy e-book that covers any of the ten topics about costs $47. As such, a fair price of The Light In The Darkness should be $470, right? Well, it costs only $19.95. Yup, it blew me away too! The explanation for this low price was that the point of this book is to help people make money, not to have them get a personal loan to give making money a shot! The Light In The Darkness is easily the best manual I've ever come across on the net. Check it out here.

That last sentence is badly garbled. Automatic stabilizers (UI etc.) reduce the need for decision making on the fly, but have nothing to do with state/local budget crises. Those are about inability to borrow. Unless your automatic stabiliser is automatic, debt financed, Fed grants to states which have budget problems, which isn’t a good idea. Son, Homosex

And as I’m being picky, German style job maintanance schemes would have a higher multiplier than the corrupt mayor plan, as corrupt mayor distributes randomly, job maintanance targets people who would otherwise reduce their spending markedly if laid off. And bridges to nowhere take time to design, acquire land and permitting etc, while the Interstates need pretty major resurfacing which you can start tomorrow, that’s macroeconomic bang for your buck. 8 FIX IT!!!!!!!!!

If in the baseline, people would lose their jobs and have to cut back abruptly and deeply on spending, but in the control people keep their jobs and don’t, that is a net positive for consumer spending. NOT DIFFICULT.

I think Michael Foucault would have cracked up at the idea of stimulus money being spent to pay someone to make signs touting the benefits of stimulus money.

But what would have really have put Michael in stitches is Herb Sandler bankrupting Wachovia by selling it a subprime mortgage business named Golden West, helping to throw the country into a Great Recession, and then using the proceeds from the sale to pay Matthew to photograph and praise the stimulus sign.

Matt has always been a centrist technocrat, at least until his current glibertarian phase. I don’t think he ever pretended to be anything else. He talked about voting for Mitt Romney back in 2002, and liked Obama because he seemed like the most conservative of the three Democrats.

Non-profit organizations are leading the way when it comes to creatively harnessing the power of social media. A report by The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth shows that the largest U.S. non-profit organizations continue to outpace Inc. 500 businesses and higher education institutions in their familiarity, use and monitoring of social media.

In fact, 93% of the top U.S. charities have a class='blippr-nobr'>Facebookclass="blippr-nobr">Facebook page, 87% have a Twitter profile, and 65% have a blog. Why does this matter? Because the rapid growth and adoption of social media is helping non-profits in their quest for change — they truly are using social media for social good.

But what about the little guys? The social web can give smaller players a big voice if they know how to leverage it. Here are three inspiring success stories of small non-profits who met or exceeded their goals with the help of social media.

1. Create a Video, Start a Movement

Darius Weems and the Darius Goes West project will inspire you. Suffering from Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), Darius and 11 of his best friends decided to head out on a cross country road trip from Atlanta to Los Angeles, where Darius hoped to have his wheelchair spiffed up by MTV’s Pimp my Ride. Though his wheelchair did not get pimped by MTV on that trip, there was a far better outcome that even Darius couldn’t have imagined.

The 25-day trip resulted in memories, experiences and 300 hours of video which were turned into a documentary that has impacted thousands of people around the world. That very same documentary has now raised over $2 million for DMD research.

According to the Darius Goes West team, “We had offers from distributors, but, in the end, we decided to self-distribute our film. By opting to self-distribute, we bear the responsibility for marketing, but we also have the power to devote $8 of every DVD sale to promising DMD research.”

It’s apparent that social media has played and continues to play a significant roll in helping to raise both awareness and money for DMD research through Darius and his friends. Here’s a snap shot of their social media footprint:

They’ve accrued close to 700,000 views on YouTubeclass="blippr-nobr">YouTube, collected more than 14,000 Facebook fans, obtained roughly 2,000 Twitter followers, and raised almost $45,000 through Facebook Causes and FirstGiving.

2. Empower Your Supporters to be Free Agent Fundraisers

Well known cycling blogger Elden Nelson did something incredible a few months ago — he raise more than $135,000 in less than 10 days for LIVESTRONG and World Bicycle Relief using his blog, Twitterclass="blippr-nobr">Twitter and Friends Asking Friends.

It all started when Nelson sent Lance Armstrong’s racing team manager, Johan Bruyneel, an open cover letter as if he were applying for a job.

Nelson, who dreamed of becoming a pro cyclist, reached out to Bruyneel, with low expectations on its return. But through the power of social media, Bruyneel did see it, and he challenged Nelson via Twitter and his blogclass="blippr-nobr">blog to raise $50,000 for LIVESTRONG and $50,000 for World Bicycle Relief. Nelson took on that challenge and completed it in less than two days.

Without the ability to quickly connect and mobilize his network using social media, this wouldn’t have been possible in such a shot amount of time. Nelson tweeted numerous times as the story unfolded, as did Bruyneel, @livestrong, @livestrongceo and @lancearmstrong. Those three accounts combined have over 3.5 million Twitter followers. Add to that the numerous blog posts, Facebook status updates and YouTube videos, and you get a social media-fueled fundraising phenomenon like we’ve never seen.

3. Raise Funds by Creating a “Heartspace”

Mothers Day 2010 brought about quite a few online fundraising initiatives, but none were more impressive than the To Mama with Love campaign created by the passionate folks at Epic Change and a host of great volunteers. The goal was simple — raise money to support Mama Lucy in her efforts to educate children in Tanzania.

Mama Lucy is a change agent who saved her own income and used it to start a primary school in Tanzania, believing that education is the key to transforming a country gripped by poverty. Over the last six years, Mama Lucy has grown the school from one classroom with fewer than 10 students, to a school that now serves more than 300 children at eight grade levels.

The initiative was simple but powerful. Supporters were encouraged honor their own mothers by making a donation and then creating a virtual scrapbook or “heartspace” on the site, including photos, videos, notes, and artwork. They could then share their “heartspace” with their mother, friends and family via Twitter and Facebook, or via a customized e-card.

Using social media as the primary communication and engagement mechanism, Epic Change was able to raise close to $17,000 and provide a safe home for 17 children in Tanzania, while also encouraging more than 300 mothers along the way. They did all of this in about a week’s time with a staff of two.

So you see, social media has truly enabled non-profits both large and small to reach out and make some real change. Tell us about the social cause campaigns you’ve donated to in the past in the comments below.

Making Money System

Up to this point this dramatic expansion of the U.S. monetary base has not caused that much inflation because U.S. government borrowing has soaked most of it up and U.S. banks have been hoarding cash and have been building up their reserves.

However, this situation will not last forever.  Eventually all this cash will make its way through the food chain and into the hands of U.S. consumers.

But what is even more troubling is the dramatic spike in commodity prices that we have seen in 2010.

Wheat futures have surged 63 percent since the month of June.  Wheat has recently been selling well above 7 dollars a bushel on the Chicago Board of Trade.

But wheat is far from alone.  In his recent column entitled "An Inflationary Cocktail In The Making", Richard Benson listed many of the other commodities that have seen extraordinary price increases over the past year....

*Agricultural Raw Materials: 24%

*Industrial Inputs Index: 25%

*Metals Price Index: 26%

*Coffee: 45%

*Barley: 32%

*Oranges: 35%

*Beef: 23%

*Pork: 68%

*Salmon: 30%

*Sugar: 24%

*Wool: 20%

*Cotton: 40%

*Palm Oil: 26%

*Hides: 25%

*Rubber: 62%

*Iron Ore: 103%

Now, as those price increases enter the chain of production do you think that there is any chance that they will not cause inflation?

Do you think there is any chance at all that producers and retailers will not pass those costs on to consumers?

It is time to face facts.

Those cost increases are going to filter all the way through the system and your paycheck is soon not going to stretch nearly as far.

Inflation is coming.

Many savvy investors understand what is going on right now.  That is one reason why gold and silver are absolutely soaring at the moment.

The price of gold set another record high on Friday for the sixth straight day.

Silver has also experienced extraordinary gains recently, and the U.S. Mint has officially raised their wholesale pricing above spot on American Silver Eagles from $1.50 to $2.00.

Meanwhile, there are even more rumblings that the Fed wants to print lots more money.  On Friday, the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, William Dudley, stated that the high unemployment and the low inflation that the United States is experiencing right now are "wholly unacceptable"....

"Further action is likely to be warranted unless the economic outlook evolves in such a way that makes me more confident that we will see better outcomes for both employment and inflation before long."

During his remarks, Dudley even mentioned what the effect of another $500 billion increase in the Fed’s balance sheet would be.

Now keep in mind, this is not just another "Joe" who is making these remarks.

This is the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York - the most important of all the regional Fed banks.

In recent weeks it is almost as if you can hear Fed officials salivate as they consider the prospect of flooding the economy with even more money.

Up to this point, very little has worked to stimulate the dying U.S. economy.  The Federal Reserve and the Obama administration are getting nervous as the American people become increasingly frustrated about the economic situation.

So will flooding the economy with even more money and causing even more inflation do the trick?

Well, no, but what inflated GDP figures will do is enable Obama and the Fed to say: "Look the economy is growing again!"

But if a flood of paper money causes the value of goods and services produced in the U.S. to go up by 5 percent but the real inflation rate is 10 percent, are we better off or are we worse off?

It doesn't take a genius to figure that one out.

So don't get fooled by "economic growth" numbers.  Just because more money is changing hands doesn't mean that the U.S. economy is doing better.

In fact, many American families are going to be financially shredded by the coming inflation tsunami.

Just think about it.

How far will your paycheck go when a half gallon of milk is 10 dollars and a loaf of bread is 5 dollars?

Already, it is incredibly difficult for the average American family of four to get by on $50,000 a year.

So how much money will we need when rampant inflation starts kicking in?

And do you think that your employers will actually give you pay raises to keep up with all of this inflation?

Not in these economic conditions.

In fact, median household incomes are declining from coast to coast all over the United States.

Earlier this year, Ben Bernanke promised Congress that the Federal Reserve would not "print money" to help the U.S. Congress finance the exploding U.S. national debt.

Did any of you believe him at the time?

Did any of you actually believe that the Federal Reserve would act responsibly and would attempt to keep the money supply and inflation under control?

The reality is that the entire Federal Reserve system is predicated on perpetual inflation and a perpetually expanding national debt.

Whatever wealth you and your family have been able to scrape together is going to continue to be whittled away month after month after month by the hidden tax of inflation.

And unfortunately, as discussed above, inflation is about to get a whole lot worse.

So is there any room for optimism?  Is there any hope that we will not see horrible inflation in the years ahead?  Please feel free to leave a comment with your opinion below....

One of the big problems during the financial crisis was a bank run in the shadow banking system when doubts emerged about the safety of deposits.

In my last column at the Fiscal Times, I talked about an approach to solving the problem that involves having deposits in the shadow system backed (insured) by high quality collateral.

But high quality collateral is not the only option. Another way to do this is through a type of insurance along the lines of what the FDIC does for the traditional banking system, along with restrictions on eligibility for the insurance. In reaction to my column, and in support of the insurance approach, Morgan Ricks of Harvard Law School emails:

I enjoyed your Fiscal Times piece and am glad you're focused on this issue.

I'm a big admirer of Gary and Andrew's work, but I would encourage you to give some more thought to whether collateral requirements for repo are likely to do the trick. Here are a few things to consider:

  • Many of the short-term liabilities of the shadow banking system were and are uncollateralized (think about Lehman's reliance on unsecured commercial paper -- the default of which caused the Reserve Fund to "break the buck," igniting the run on money market funds; and Citigroup's SIVs, which financed themselves in the unsecured markets).

  • Money market investors do not want to take possession of collateral and dispose of it. Even if the collateral is high quality, they don't want the interest rate risk. That's not their business. They don't want to deal with the consequences of a counterparty default. This is why, in the crisis, many money market investors stopped rolling even those repos that were fully secured by Treasuries and agencies:

    • See Chris Cox's testimony on Bear Stearns (here http://www.sec.gov/news/testimony/2008/ts040308cc.htm): "For the first time, a major investment bank that was well-capitalized and apparently fully liquid experienced a crisis of confidence that denied it not only unsecured financing, but short-term secured financing, even when the collateral consisted of agency securities with a market value in excess of the funds to be borrowed"

    • See also FRBNY's repo task force report (here http://www.newyorkfed.org/prc/report_100517.pdf): “Discussions in the Task Force emphasized repeatedly that many Cash Investors focus primarily if not almost exclusively on counterparty concerns and that they will withdraw secured funding on the same or very similar timeframes as they would withdraw unsecured funding.”

  • Even if collateral requirements reduce the likelihood of runs, how do we calibrate them -- what is the objective function? Presumably we think maturity transformation (fractional reserve banking) is a good thing -- it increases the supply of loanable funds by pooling otherwise idle cash reserves and deploying them toward productive investments. Risk constraints (such as collateral requirements) necessarily reduce this surplus -- there is a real social cost. How do we appraise the corresponding benefit? That is, how do we estimate the systemic instability associated with any given level of collateral requirements? My argument is that we can't. And by "we" I mean not just the government, but anybody.

My paper argues that we avoid these problems with an insurance regime; that financial firms outside the insurance regime should be disallowed from conducting maturity transformation (i.e., they would have to rely on term funding, not money market funding); and that we should develop functional criteria of eligibility for the insurance regime. (By the way, this is not the same thing as "extending" insurance to shadow banks.)

Anyway, these are things worth thinking about. I think the insurance approach needs more serious consideration than it has received -- it's a little lonely over here ...

Best,

Morgan Ricks

Making Fast Money

Pump and Dump
September 30, 2010
By John R. Taylor, Jr.
Chief Investment Officer

At the Jackson Hole conference near the end of August, Fed Chair Bernanke informed the markets that they should anticipate the Fed’s announcement of a new quantitative easing (QE II) effort in the near future. In response, the global equity markets began a powerful rally, which continues today. In the US, the stock market gave us the strongest September since 1939, and Bernanke is still advertising  his future plans to inflate the money supply, stimulate inflation, and reflate the economy. The Fed’s strategy seems to go beyond the famous Greenspan ‘put’ or even the Plunge Protection Team, which is rumored to be on the bid whenever US equities are down sharply. Bernanke is being proactive. In the street vernacular, Bernanke’s words are pumping up the prospects for a future liquidity boom, and a very strong equity market. The next step in this process, as carried out by Wall Street’s more scurrilous denizens, would be to dump their lousy equity positions on the market at inflated prices – hence ‘pump and dump.’

Strange thing, the US Treasury has lots of stock to sell: Citibank, AIG, and General Motors. It seems that the US authorities are very interested in making as large a profit as possible on the TARP program and its other equity positions, perhaps trying to draw our attention away from the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac messes. General Motors is currently worth somewhere between $60 and $85 billion dollars, up from zero eighteen months ago, and at any valuation over about $67 billion, the US would break even. As the offering will be finalized in a month or so, the pressure to get a good price will last for a while. Prior to that AIA, AIG’s very profitable Asian arm, should be sold for around $40 billion, allowing the repayment of AIG’s line of credit from the NY Fed with some left over. Even Citibank, the last of all the banks still owing money to TARP, looks to be a winner. For the government this Houdinilike escape from the horrifyingly large TARP bailout of almost exactly two years ago is a tremendous success, for those buying out the government’s position: caveat emptor!

Standing on its own, the outlook for the equity market is not rosy. Earnings have been boosted by cost reductions, by productivity, and by absorbing competitors with excess cash. The outlook for future growth can not be good when the mean forecast for GDP growth in the US next year is around 2% and even that is dependent on some optimistic projections for final sales and exports. With those facts weighing on the market, should the US government be out pushing equities to climb higher? It seems that it is the Fed’s and the administration’s highest priority to have the S&P rising every month. A quick review of the correlation tables shows that a climbing S&P has equaled a falling dollar, climbing commodity prices, and higher inflation. As there is no inflation to speak of – and fear of deflation is
rampant in some quarters – this strategy seems to have little risk, at least for the government and the average US family. Bernanke and his friends in the Treasury seem to be pulling a fast one on the world, inflating US assets and deflating US liabilities through a falling dollar, while giving the US companies a chance to fund themselves cheaply. The only ones who are harmed are not voters or, if they are, they don’t have many votes. However, those who own the most US assets and will be financing the US in the future can not be pleased by this. It might be that the Eurozone is short-sighted allowing the euro to rise (see A Race to Two Bottoms, September 23), but the US is not thinking about the long term either. This is a very short term game. If the economy does go into a recession next year, as we expect, equities will decline anyway, and the government’s escape will only be temporary.

TARP II will need to be rolled out alongside QE II and many will be left with a sour taste in their mouths.
